This sweet dresser is super deep and will make a fabulous changing table for a very special baby girl. I delivered the piece yesterday and I am super excited to see the room fully decorated. Maybe they will let me come back and take pictures of the whole space…because it will be fabulous! I know you all have seen my brush stoke-y ombre design before…but one is done in reds and pinks! Here are the afters…
Quite a bit of prep work went into this piece. The turquoise paint had to be stripped off; the floral wood appliques were removed from the top two drawer fronts, old pull holes were filled and new ones drilled; the top had to be sanded smooth and the rest of the piece needed a good sanding as well. I used Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint in Tricycle that I purchased from the Perfectly Imperfect Shop for the true red side and I custom mixed the paint for the middle pink and the light pink. The piece was then sealed in three-four coats of water based poly and oval mercury glass knobs were added. I named her Aiyana, it is a Native American name that means “Eternal Blossom.” It felt fitting for the piece and because it is my wish for the sweet baby girl. Aiyana is the sister to Tallulah, who has now been featured on Bob Vila (WOW). The ombre pieces are a bit of challenge sometimes due to how many thin coats of paint I apply; mixing the colors just right…. and because I’m a bit of a perfectionist…but worth it! She was a lot of fun to style as well. I hope you like her! Here is another styled shot just for fun…Aiyana a red ombre dresser.
